Course description
The Felling Trees Over 380mm Training Course will provide the candidate with the appropriate techniques to safely fell large trees. Successful candidates will achieve the necessary certification to fell trees over 380mm in diameter. The course is broken down into three days training concluding on the fourth day with an NPTC assessment. Candidates must already hold their CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting and CS31 Felling Trees Up To 380mm certificates to attend this training course.

Prerequisites
- Candidates must hold valid NPTC Level 2 20-03 (CS30) Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting and NPTC Level 2 20-04 (CS31) Felling Trees up to 380mm certificates
- Be able to participate in 3 days of physical work
- NPTC candidates must be over 16 years old
Equipment requirements
- PPE: Type C chainsaw trousers, hard hat with ear & eye protection, gloves and steel toe-cap boots with chainsaw protection
- Rear handled chainsaw with over 15” bar
- Felling lever and wedges
- Timber tongs
- Fuel & oil
- Maintenance kit
- Filing kit suitable to users chainsaw
- Heavy duty winches
Please ensure all equipment is PUWER compliant and PPE is in good condition. Equipment is available for hire if candidates do not yet have their own. Please contact the office for cost.
Are You Ready To Start?
Candidates must hold valid NPTC Level 2 certificates in Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting (CS30) and Felling Trees up to 380mm (CS31).
The course lasts for four days, with three days of training followed by an assessment on the fourth day.
Participants need PPE (Type C chainsaw trousers, hard hat, gloves, and steel toe-cap boots), a rear-handled chainsaw with over a 15” bar, a felling lever and wedges, timber tongs, fuel & oil, and a maintenance kit.
This course is ideal for candidates looking to extend their skills in tree surgery and forestry, particularly those wanting to fell larger trees.
The course costs £650+VAT per person, including NPTC assessment fees.
